Liverpool Indie Choir

members area

Hey everyone, so this year marks the 10th anniversary of me being involved in choir, and theres no other way to put it, its been a roller coaster!! I honestly would never have imagined in a 1000 years some of the projects I would be involved in, and all of the incredible people I have met.

Liverpool indie choir as a project

(as thats what it was when I started it ) has been a big success, I’m immensely proud of all we have achieved as a group of people

I love everything about our choir, the songs, the amazing and diverse group of people from all walks of life who come together to sing, and of course,  the sound we produce together

However, since lockdown, it has become clear that choirs as a whole, generally,  struggle to maintain a regular attendance of their membership, I am a member of lots of Facebook choir groups and the theme is exactly the same.

So, I’ve been looking at the next stage of our journey, and feel now is an appropriate time to implement some changes to secure our short, medium, and long term future, and to ensure the fundamental aims of LiC continue to be met.

So what are the fundamental aims of LiC

TO MAKE CHOIR ACCESSIBLE TO ALL

TO MAKE CHOIR APPEALING TO PEOPLE WHO MAY NOT BE

INTERESTED IN SINGING IN TRADITIONAL CHOIRS

TO SING SONGS OTHER CHOIRS DON’T

 from the 1st June

We will be moving from weekly to a monthly subscription

We will introduce a simple code of conduct, to include required attendances for performance.

We will introduce a weekly registration scheme to

keep track of attendance

Sessions will be recorded for those not able to make rehearsal

The full details for this will be included very soon.

The LiC membership will be capped at 60 people (unless more than 60 of the current group wish to continue)

There will be an increase of subs to £8

To put this into context, when I started choir in 2014,

subs were £6.

They were then increased to £7 post lockdown, so this is only the 3rd increase in 10 years...

Full terms and conditions will follow

These changes will bring us into line with other local and national choir organisations and will allow me to spend more time on choir related activities. We’ve been involved in some incredible activities and gigs, and I think its time to create some of our own…

Obviously, I am always available to chat about things, so if anyone has any difficulties I would ask them to come and speak to me directly.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM US:

Fantastic rehearsals, Great songs

Continued Involvement in one of the most unique and diverse choirs in the city, Regular gigs

2 family performances a year (summer / winter)

Facilitation of choir music to assist members who miss sessions

Larger collaborative events / fundraisers with other choirs operated by myself

These changes will ensure our future, allowing me to spend a lot more time on choir than I’m able to at present, and also to create a replicateable and sustainable choir business model with which to build a solid future and extend the whole concept of what LiC is about

I envision a situation of the indie choir brand being expanded around the country, enabling many more people to do what we do and enjoy what has become such a big part of all of our lives. As I said earlier, I am always available to chat about things, so if anyone has any difficulties I would ask them to please come and speak to me directly.

As always people, thank you all so much for your support it really does mean the world
